Ok, Hi or re-Hi to all of those of you who have signed up to this London Backgammon Meetup thingermebob.
![]() There have been a few of you now that have come along to regular Backgammon in London evenings but haven't come back again. So something is going wrong. I think you've mostly found it all a bit too serious. Na, change that ? a lot too serious. At those evenings you must roll on one side of the board only, must use dice cups, must play in tournaments when you only wanna play for fun, must pay £5 for the evening and then are asked if you want to put some money on your matches when you don?t AND must play with that stupid little doubling cube that you haven?t a clue how to use and have no interest to learn about. ![]() To yous backgammon is about meeting people that like to meet other like minded people over a casual game, having a bit of a laugh, not really caring who wins and who loses, having a drink and going home having had a good evening out for a £1 or £2 plus your drinks. Cool. ![]() So what say yous to an evening of ?casual social backgammon? ? No dice shakers, roll any side of the board you like, any olde tatty and small backgammon board will do, no playing for money, no tournaments and certainly no playing with that doubling cube. If you like we?ll also chuck in that if anybody gets too serious about the backgammon they have to buy somebody a drink to say sorry about being a backgammon nerd! ![]() If you have ideas about the evening let us know here on this message board. It?s for you, it?s yours, you?ve an interest in backgammon, that?s great, let us know what you want out of it. No need to write a book like I?m doing ? one liners are great but I just can?t seem to do them! ![]() I?m not sure when or if this casual evening will be yet. Possibly Tue 22nd April in The Lockside Lounge in Camden Town. Before it goes ahead I?d like to know how many of you might turn up for it. ![]() There are some costs involved in running it so sorry folks it can?t be for nil pounds. £2 a head should cover my costs. If you think the evening wasn?t what is was billed as you can give £1. ![]() I won?t advertise the evening via the Backgammon in London website so the usual (too serious) players don?t know about it and won?t be there. Ok ? ball is in your court, what?s your hit? Cheers, Mike http://www.backgammon... |

Might be interested, but I'm an absolute beginner la la la, played it and enjoyed it coz I won when I was 6 or 7... (hmm, since then people told me it's quite usual to win when you don't have a clue about how things work). If this event is confirmed, I might try and learn to play online so I have a mild clue. Tuesday is fine for me unless told I've got job duties.
