NYC Backgammon - V2.0

With the largest group of active and participating members in NYC, meeting great people to play backgammon with has never been easier.

Be sure to bring your board if you have one!

We come in 3 flavors: 1. Casual play - kick back and relax and let your mind wander. 2. Clinic matches - I'll help a group of folks improve their game. 3. Chouettes - for those looking for a bit more edge.

Tourneys are a possibility in the future.

What's New?

  • Sheri and Tony were playing. Four expert level players gave their input and came up unevenly split 3-2 regarding whether the double was correct or not. The Snowie analysis is, as always, a rollout. Similar GNU results

  • "Trixie and Doug (front), Lefty and hiding (middle), Richard and Seth"

Most of the positions here will be fairly complex ones dealing with more in-depth backgammon strategy and thinking. Utilizing the strategies can help your general play, but will be tough to incorporate unless you are a more experienced player.

2 cubes from a chouette on 4.3.8. One boils down to some simple math. The other knowing the relative strengths of the two positions.

From a chouette on Wall Street. Just remember, if you know something, don't let an opponent scare you (or bluff you) into avoiding proper action. Detailed commentary text file in the zip, too.

  • From a chouette on 3.13.8. Steve got the drop on me as GNU showed it was a drop by a blundering 0.089. Detailed commentary text file in the zip, too.

  • From a chouette on 3.13.8. I hedged with the captain with a 5 point side bet on the move that turned out to be correct, turning the 4 point loss into a 1 point gain. Detailed commentary text file in the zip, too.

Every so often I will add a new interesting position with commentary from a live game. The html file is easiest to read. Read the "read me first" file first :) If you don't know what you're looking at and want to, ask me to explain at the meetup.
